Dalton Foundry is a producer of complex, heavily-cored gray iron castings founded in 1910 in Warsaw, Indiana. The Company’s products are used in critical applications in the HVAC, power transmission, engine, and heavy truck markets, serving a blue chip customer base including United Technologies, Caterpillar, General Motors and John Deere.

Beckner Clevy Partners, in partnership with majority investor Speyside Equity, acquired the business in May of 2016.

IHP is a merger of Lennox Hearth Products and FMI Products, creating a strong number two in the North American hearth products industry. The combined entity takes advantage of significant synergies in all aspects of the business.

Pro-Tech Industries, based in Vancouver, Washington, is a manufacturer of heavy truck accessories, such as cab racks, toolboxes, fenders and storage boxes. The company is 33 years old and operates out of two 75,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facilities, one in Vancouver and one in Nashville, Tennessee. Pro-Tech sells to truck dealers and distributors of truck-related products.

Nello Corporation is a global leader in the design and fabrication of galvanized steel towers and poles.  Nello services a wide variety of industries specializing in wireless self-supporting towers, guyed towers, and monopoles as well as tapered utility pole and transmission pole structures.   Founded in 2002 by a team of experienced engineering, design, and manufacturing professionals, Nello has grown to one of the larger infrastructure providers in North America. Today, Nello continues to add manufacturing and distribution facilities to meet the needs of a growing customer base.  Their extensive design and manufacturing experience allows the development of new cost effective and innovative products. 

At Nello, engineering is at the core of everything they do. By utilizing the latest software and technology to design structures, they bring greater value to their customers through increased functionality and reduced installation time.  Currently their customer base includes all major wireless carriers, national utility companies, energy producers, wind energy providers, tower companies, turn-key service providers, government and military entities as well as general contractors.

With modern facilities, high capacity, and proven cost effective products, Nello is able to handle any tower project in the world.

Operational Approach

  • Once a target company is identified, the Partners employ a disciplined, rigorous analysis to identify key business drivers, areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
  • The Partners will personally meet with employees, customers, suppliers, lenders and competitors to develop an accurate and up-to-date 360-degree view of the business.
  • The Partners, working with management, develop detailed three-year operating plans with clear objectives, key result areas, and milestones for each investment. These plans are developed involving three layers of management and are deployed throughout the organization. The operating plans become the measure of success and the basis for compensation and promotion within the business.
  • The Partners employ metrics that allow the Partners, Management and Investors to track execution of the plans and results on a real-time basis. Typically, the metrics will address working capital, customer service and progress toward profit objectives and strategic goals.
  • The Partners and Management will drive improvement in productivity, customer lead times and working capital utilizing continuous improvement processes, including Lean Production, and an intense focus on execution.
